@jens i’ve always wondered if it’s possible to bootstrap new services off of bittorrent’s dht. it’s had the ability to store (and update) data for almost a decade: https://www.bittorrent.org/beps/bep_0044.html

however, i don’t know how widespread support for this is in clients.
